Jeffrey Bleich, Botschafter der USA in Australien, hat eine ernste Warnung ausgesandt. Es ist eine ernste außenpolitische Sache. Eine wirklich ernste Angelegenheit! Blech möchte, dass sich die Australier Game of Thrones nicht länger illegal besorgen.
Auf seiner offiziellen Facebook Seite, derjenigen, auf der tatsächlich „Ambassador Bleich" steht, befindet sich seit kurzem ein Eintrag mit dem Titel „Stopping the Game of Clones". Hier ist ein Screencap, der beweist, dass dies wirklich der Fall ist/war.
"As the Ambassador here in Australia, it was especially troubling to find out that Australian fans were some of the worst offenders with among the highest piracy rates of Game of Thronesin the world“, schrieb Ambassador Bleich. "While some people here used to claim that they used pirate sites only because of a delay in getting new episodes here, the show is now available from legitimate sources within hours of its broadcast in the United States."
Was veranlasste Bleich, diese Botschaft in der vergangenen Nacht auf Facebook zu veröffentlichen? Vor einigen Tagen wurde der 17. jährliche UN World Book and Copyright Day begangen. Das - und der Botschafter sieht sich Game of Thrones mit seiner Familie an. Er scheint ein großer Fan zu sein.
"I realize that fans of Game of Thrones who have used illegal file-sharing sites have reasons“, meinte Ambassador Bleich weiter. "They will say it was much easier to access through these sites, or that they got frustrated by the delay in the first season, or their parents wouldn’t pay for a subscription, or they will complain about some other issue with copyright laws."
Und dann kam er mit dem alten Totschlagargument: „But none of those reasons is an excuse—stealing is stealing."
Das ist gut und schön, aber hat der Mann nicht wichtigere Dinge zu tun, als sich darüber zu sorgen, dass Australier sich Game of Thrones illegal beschaffen? Er ist U.S. Botschafter. Ein echter, vom Präsidenten nominierter. Und er spricht über Game of Thrones im Internet. Steuergeld bei der Arbeit!
