Beim heurigen großen DOTA 2 Turnier „The International“ geht es um Preisgeld in Millionenhöhe. Deshalb wird es wohl niemanden überraschen, dass ein teilnehmendes Team enorm erzürnt war, als seine Strategie versehentlich (hoffentlich!) von einer Kameracrew bekanntgemacht wurde.
Ein Kamerateam des chinesischen eSports-Unternehmens Gamefy ist beim Turnier, um das Geschehen dokumentarisch festzuhalten. Obwohl es von Veranstalter Valve dazu keine Genehmigung erhielt, betrat es die für die Allgemeinheit gesperrten Spielerräume von Team DK (unten zu sehen) und filmte, was dort vor sich ging. Die Leute nahmen dabei Team DKs "core strategy" nicht nur für das anstehende Match, sondern für den gesamten Wettbewerb auf und strahlten diese dann auch noch aus.
Team DK konnte zwar das Match gewinnen, aber da seine grundlegende Strategie nun weltweit bekannt ist, dürfte es kaum noch Chancen haben, im Kampf um das ganz große Preisgeld mitzumischen.
Gamefy hat sich mittlerweile mit einer Erklärung (übersetzt von Redditor Bikinii) auf seiner offiziellen Website für diesen schweren Fehler entschuldigt und behauptet, dass das Bildmaterial „versehentlich“ online gestellt wurde.
Dear DK players and beloved dota 2 fans,
Gamefy's film personnel entered and began filming the player's rooms without the permission of Valve and Team DK, and accidentally uploading the sensitive information. We sincerely apologize for our actions.
We acknowledge the problems and frustration that were caused to team DK by the video, and we are fully aware of the hurt that was caused to dota 2 fans. According to Valve Corperation's rules and regulations, the personnel responsible cannot continue to participate in TI4 news reporting; We will also strictly adhere to the rules of the organizing committee. Without further permission from valve, we will not enter player's rooms to conduct any kind film work.
Lastly, we would hope for forgiveness and understanding from all of team DK, all dota 2 fans and lovers, and other TI 4 players; and let us put our passion and enthusiasm into the reporting of the next phase of the tournament.
