Konsolen ähneln mit ihren Patches und Upgrades immer mehr PCs, während PCs den Konsolen immer ähnlicher werden, da viele Spieler Controlpads benützen und ihre Rechner an den Fernseher anschließen.
Bei Alienware meint man, eine Marktlücke entdeckt zu haben, die man mit dem X51 zu schließen gedenkt, einem kleinen PC, der eine Mischung aus Computer und Konsole sein soll.
Im Inneren ist das Gerät natürlich ein PC. Das Basismodell mit einem Core i3, 4GB RAM und GT545 sollte in der Lage sein, Battlefield 3 mit nahezu höchsten Einstellungen wiederzugeben. Natürlich sind gegen Aufpreis umfangreiche Upgrades möglich.
Das Gehäuse ist jedoch klein und speziell gestaltet, um horizontal oder vertikal neben beziehungsweise unter einem Fernseher Platz zu finden.
Da Steam im Laufe des Jahres seinen „Big Picture“ Modus startet und immer mehr Konsolenspiele mit verbesserter Grafik und Controlpad-Unterstützung auch für den PC erscheinen, ist dies vielleicht gar keine so schlechte Idee.
