Falls Sie den Drang verspüren, wieder einmal Baldur’s Gate zu spielen, sollten Sie damit vielleicht bis zum Herbst warten.
Dem klassischen Rollenspiel wird am 18. September neues Leben eingehaucht, denn dann veröffentlicht Entwickler Beamdog Baldur's Gate: Extended Edition, ein verbessertes Remake mit neuen Charakteren und einem neuen Abenteuer, das dem Unternehmen zufolge sechs Stunden Spielspaß bieten soll.
Die erweiterte Edition ist für PC und Mac zum günstigen Preis von $20 ($18 bei Vorbestellung) erhältlich. Sie bietet unter anderem drei spielbare Sidekicks: den Halb-Orc Blackguard Dorn (sein Kopf ist weiter unten zu sehen), die Halb-Elfin Wild Mage Neera und den menschlichen Mönch Rasaad. Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition erfreut die Spieler außerdem mit einem neuen Dungeon namens The Black Pit, der in The Underdark angesiedelt ist und es ganz schön in sich hat, denn Sie müssen fünfzehn Levels arena-artiger Kämpfe bestehen.
Daneben wird es auch eine Version für das iPad geben, die auch im September erscheinen soll und $10 kosten wird. Das Interface dieser Version wird komplett überarbeitet, damit das Spiel auf dem Tablet angenehm spielbar ist. Die Charaktere Dorn und Neera werden auf dem iPad jedoch als herunterladbare Inhalte gesondert verkauft. Das neue Black Pits Abenteuer ist aber Bestandteil des Hauptspiels.
Baldur's Gate: Extended Edition wird außerdem in näherer Zukunft für Android erscheinen.
Baldur's Gate: Extended Edition wird alle Klassen, Rassen und Ausrüstungsgegenstände aus Baldur's Gate II beinhalten. Die Bugs der Originalversion werden zur Gänze beseitigt und Multiplayer-Sessions zwischen allen Plattformen werden möglich sein.
So beschreibt Beamdog die Black Pits:

Und so beschreibt Beamdog den neuen Charakter Dorn:
"Do not annoy me with such simplistic notions of morality."
Born in the Spine of the World, Dorn fled to Luskan with his human mother when a rival tribe annihilated his father's savage people. In that northern city, Dorn's ruthless strength soon won him a deadly reputation and the attentions of a band of mercenaries whose wickedness exceeded even Dorn's. Imprisoned for the crimes of the entire group, Dorn made a fiendish bargain granting him even greater power and the promise of revenge.
A Blackguard of few words, Dorn is only too happy to ally himself with a child of Bhaal and cut a bloody swath across the Sword Coast with his black greatsword, as long as that path continues to lead him to the traitors he has sworn to destroy.

Dorn is a half-orc Blackguard whose otherworldly patron grants him terrible powers in the form of his black sword and unholy spells. Add him to your Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition and inflict evil to the last corpse.
Dorn adds the following Enhancments to Baldur's Gate:
· The Blackguard Dorn II-Khan, a new NPC to join your party
· Up to four hours of additional gameplay
· The Blackguard kit to create your own champion of evil

Eine Enhanced Edition von Baldur’s Gate II soll ebenfalls kommen. Vielleicht beginnt man bei Beamdog ja dann irgendwann einmal mit der Arbeit an Baldur’s Gate III…
